According to Utility Dive, ChargePoint and Optimus Energy have announced plans to significantly expand their electric vehicle charging infrastructure throughout the Southeast region. The joint expansion effort will introduce 200 additional charging ports designed to address growing demand for accessible EV charging solutions across the country's fastest-growing markets.
The new charging stations will be strategically positioned in high-traffic locations that prioritize consumer convenience, with installations planned near retail destinations, dining establishments, and other shopping centers where drivers frequently spend time. This site-selection strategy aims to integrate charging access seamlessly into existing consumer behaviors and travel patterns, rather than requiring drivers to make dedicated trips to dedicated charging facilities.
The expansion underscores the industry's broader push to build out charging infrastructure as EV adoption accelerates nationwide. By targeting Southeast markets specifically, the partnership capitalizes on regional growth trends while filling gaps in the current charging network that may limit EV purchase decisions in less-served areas.
